Write to us
Most things are answered below. If you are writing about something going wrong, the three things that help most are: which iPhone and which iOS version, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. A screenshot is worth several paragraphs.
Please do not send us a receipt, an export or a screenshot with real amounts in it unless we ask. We do not store your receipts and we would rather not receive them by email either.
The things worth knowing
What counts against my monthly scans?
Only having a receipt read for you. Photographing one, reading its text on your own device, typing a receipt in by hand, editing, and every export are unlimited on every plan — including free.
A receipt failed to read. Was I charged for it?
No. If nothing usable came back, the scan is put back on your allowance, however many attempts it took. You still get the photo, the text we could read, and your columns to type into.
Why does reading a receipt need an account?
Because the monthly allowance has to belong to somebody. It is Sign in with Apple only, and we do not ask Apple for your name or your email — there is nowhere in our database to put either.
Are my receipts uploaded?
The scanned text and a downscaled copy of the photo are sent to be read, then discarded. Nothing off a receipt is stored on our server — no merchant, no amount, no image. Your receipts live on your device. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is kept, which is counts and timings.
Why is a number in my export text instead of a number?
It should not be. CSV and TSV deliberately write bare numbers and
yyyy-MM-dd dates with no currency symbol and no thousands
separator, because a symbol makes the column text and it will not sum. XLSX
carries real dates and real currency formatting instead.
If a column will not add up, tell us which one — that is a
bug and we want it.
Can I change my columns after I have captured receipts?
Yes. Editing a set of columns never reshapes receipts you have already captured — each one keeps the columns it was captured with, so an old export still looks the way it did.
There is no signal. Is my receipt lost?
No. It is saved with its photo and its text, and it gets its columns straight away so you can type into it. It is read for you automatically the next time you are online.
Is there a free trial?
No, deliberately. The free tier is the trial: one set of columns and 15 scans a month, for good, with no card and no expiry. Nothing is charged unless you buy a plan on the upgrade screen.
How do I cancel?
Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription, which opens your Apple Account's own subscription list. Cancelling at least a day before the renewal date stops the next charge. Cancellations and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What happens to my receipts if I stop paying?
Nothing. They are on your device, they keep exporting, and you keep every set of columns you made — you just go back to 15 reads a month and cannot create new sets beyond the first.
Other things people ask
I bought a subscription and the app still says I am on free.
Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases, or Settings › Subscription › Restore purchases. If you bought Sheetsnap with a different Apple Account, sign into that one first. If it still does not appear, write to us with the date of purchase — not your receipt from Apple, just the date.
How do I get my data out?
The share button at the top of the Receipts tab. CSV and XLSX write a file you can send anywhere; Copy as TSV puts it on the clipboard to paste straight into a spreadsheet. The columns are yours, in your order, and nothing is added.
How do I delete my account?
Settings › Delete account. It deletes the server-side account outright and wipes every receipt, photograph and set of columns from the device in the same step. Nothing is archived and nothing can be restored afterwards, by you or by us — so export first if you want to keep anything.
Can I use Sheetsnap on my iPad or Mac?
Not yet. Sheetsnap is built for iPhone, in portrait, and that is deliberate for version 1: a receipt is photographed with a phone.
I lost my phone. Can you send me my receipts?
No, and this is the one that is worth understanding before it happens. Receipts are stored on your device and we have no copy of them, which is the same fact as “we cannot read what you bought”. There is nothing for us to send. Export regularly, and keep an iPhone backup.
Something is wrong with what it read.
Correct it on the review screen — tap the field and type. If it is consistently wrong in the same way, tell us: which column, what it should have said, and what it said instead. Do not send the receipt itself. A plain-English hint on a column (“one of: Materials, Fuel, Meals”) is often the fix, and it applies from then on.
